The MD2K Center has not only brought together the top investigators in mobile health, but also a group of dedicated student researchers who work with them. This is the one in a series of profiles of the Ph.D. students and postdoctoral scholars who are working with the center.
Md Mahbubur Rahman
Mahbubur Rahman is a sixth-year Ph.D. student at the University of Memphis, where he is studying under Dr. Santosh Kumar. Rahman earned his bachelor's degree in Computer Science and Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology, and a Master's of Science in Computer Science from the University of Memphis.
Originally from Dhaka, Bangladesh, he co-founded 3SM Systems and worked for Axiata Ltd. in Bangladesh before deciding to pursue an advanced degree in Computer Science.
His deep interest in Mobile Health research and work with Kumar led him to the MD2K Center, he said. “I am designing user studies to develop and validate models of human health behaviors in the natural environment using wearable sensors and smart phone. The end goal is to support precision medicine initiative by designing just-in-time interventions that will help users adopt healthy behaviors to improve their health and wellness,” Rahman said.
In addition to mobile health, Rahman is also interested in wearable computing, behavioral privacy and machine learning.
